Investment Banking at Next Generation leverages the firm’s research, sales and trading, and imbedded industry expertise. We are led by a seasoned banking professional with 20 years of Wall Street experience. Having completed a broad range of transactions totaling $20 billion; with diverse industry and transaction experience.

The Investment Banking division provides critical corporate finance services to micro, small and mid cap companies lacking the tools enjoyed by more established companies. We assist clients from the earliest stage of defining objectives through transaction closing.

Advice on fundamental corporate and financial matters, including:

  • Analysis of internal growth vs. acquisition
  • Developing alternatives to maximize shareholder value
  • Developing capital structure alternatives – appropriate mix of debt and equity
  • Balance sheet restructuring – increase profitability, maximize flexibility
  • Advice on taking a company public and preparing a company for a public offering
  • Advice on taking a company private – structuring a management buyout
  • Developing liquidity alternatives for principals or their shareholders and implementing poison pill and other M&A defense strategies
     

Jonathan Blum
Managing Director, heads the Investment banking team at Next Generation.

Mr. Blum has 20 years of client advisory experience on Wall Street and as a consultant. From 2002 to 2006, Mr. Blum was a Partner and Head of the Investment Banking practice at Jesup & Lamont Securities, a New York based boutique banking firm. Prior to Jesup & Lamont, Mr. Blum was a Managing Director at Prudential Securities Incorporated responsible for the firm’s Real Estate, Energy and Consumer M&A practices. Before joining Prudential Securities, Mr. Blum was a Director of M&A at Salomon Smith Barney and a Managing Director in the M&A practice of Chase Securities, Inc.

Mr. Blum graduated summa cum laude with a B.S. in finance from Boston University and received an M.B.A. with distinction from the Harvard Business School. Mr. Blum is a Director of Cornerstone Pharmaceuticals, Inc., an oncology focused biotech company based in New Jersey.
 


Ryan Carpel
Director, Investment Banking

Ryan Carpel has 12 years of business development and analytical experience on Wall Street. From 2005 to 2007, Mr. Carpel was a Senior Research Analyst with Nite Capital Management, a Chicago based hedge fund. Mr. Carpel focused on finding and analyzing global special situations small cap equities within the following sectors: alternative energy, biotechnology, energy, medical device, and mining.

Prior to Nite Capital, Mr. Carpel was in sales with UBS and Terra Nova Trading. Mr. Carpel graduated with a B.S. in Business Administration from Millikin University and received an M.B.A. from Loyola University of Chicago.
